I've been impressed and grateful for the reaction of the Twitter community to my on-topic breaking news reports on parenting, autism, education news and Hawaii news. Here's how I do it....

A bit about me, Rick Kirkham

As a dual certified teacher originally from Illinois and a certified substitute teacher here in Hawaii, I'm in high demand to do a lot of long term substitute teaching. At the same time, I have two full time businesses to run.

I'm an in home tutor specializing in students with ADHD since I have ADHD myself. I cover Honolulu Hawaii and all of Oahu. You can imagine how busy I get.

I'm also an in home computer tutor and troubleshooter covering Honolulu Hawaii and all of Oahu. My ADHD gives me an enhanced ability to see patterns. This allows me to trace back to computer problems whether it's a bad Microsoft Windows update or a computer virus. Most of my in home computer clients are senior citizens and small business owners. I get quite busy with this business as well.

Now add to that a full day of teaching and you can see how I'd have very little time to get my name in front of people in any kind of traditional way.

Fortunately, no one has ever accused me of thinking inside the box.

A few months ago I began writing a program to gather on topic news feeds from around the world. I remember practically starting over a few times and making several great changes that led to me getting messages and retweets.

Now, you may ask why I'm messing around with Twitter

Twitter is

• Has a wide variety of content

• Not as censored with secret rules as Facebook

• Friendly for multiple accounts since I have several websites also setup to automate on topic news

• Superfast at getting spidered by Google and other search engines

I've done it myself. I follow KHON News for example who also Tweet news automatically to Twitter. Users such as myself can comment on the news and read other opinions. It seems I'm in good company for providing breaking news stories with my program.

My strategy with automatic postings to Twitter

My program has several great features I've added as I progressed with the programming. In this case the ability to add on to the title of the news story and even create a second link leading either to my index page to improve my search engine rankings or to a major offer to monetize the news story. You see one of the cool features is my program doesn't just provide a list of news stories on a single page, it actually generates a new page for each news story with even more monetization than the index page which lists all the news stories. Google loves lists by the way.

What I did with this add on title

I made sure all of my keywords and keyword phrases were in the add on title that people use to search for my services. for example if you search

And yes, part of my strategy is to place keywords in my Twitter name. Another great advantage of using Twitter over Facebook. Why Hawaii news? That's where my clients and future clients are located! So by combining #HawaiiNews #EducationNews #AutismNews and #ADHDNews my program helps corner that market for me!

How do I get the news to Twitter?

My program, let's call it what I've finally named it, "Rick Kirkham’s Breaking News Website Script". does a lot of great things.
